Job Description

On behalf of our client, we require an Assistant Director of Nursing 2 to join a prestigious hospital in Co. Dublin. The post holder is accountable and professionally responsible to the Director of Nursing and will work in close collaboration with the directorate core management team and wider management team to ensure the smooth running of the service.

" Provide professional nursing leadership across the directorate, ensuring that an appropriate structure is in place to support nursing and HCAs at all levels.
" Take the lead responsibility for ensuring adequate clinical governance in respect to nursing services.
" Demonstrate a high degree of commitment, professionalism and dedication to the philosophy of nursing and quality health care provision.
" Demonstrate relevant knowledge expertise and experience from an acute hospital perspective in order to discharge the duties of this senior nursing post.
" Develop and implement the strategic and operational plans of the directorate.
" Develop a strategic plan for nursing (to include, but not limited to, education, research, practice development and clinical audits) in order to meet service and specialty needs.
" Provide leadership to all nurses and HCAs within the directorate and take overall responsibility for their performance management, professional development and portfolios.
" Establish effective working relationships and communication within the directorates, across the hospital groups and institutions relevant to the hospital.
" Support the performance management of all services within the directorate and take appropriate action with underperforming services.
" Participate in the recruitment and selection process for senior nursing and other key appointments as required.

" Be registered, or be eligible for registration in the General Nurse Division, and other divisions as relevant to the specific service, of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, as appropriate, maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cn imhseachais na h ireann).
" Have 7 years post registration nursing experience and 3 years nursing management experience at a minimum of CNM2 in an acute setting.
" Possess a post graduate qualification at not less than level 8 (QQI) in health care or management related area.
